For my persuasive speech, I believe that I was very organized throughout the whole process.  Once I started putting my powerpoint together, I had my sources and facts.  I used online websites that I knew were credible like government websites along with statistics from MADD (mothers against drunk driving).   After I used a source I cited it and added it the slides and my last slide on the powerpoint which was the work cited slide.  I learned whenever you use information that is not yours, that you must cite it.  We were taught this in the beginning of the year.  It is part of the ethics requirement.  If you do not site your information, you could be accused of plagiarizing.  During you speech, we were told to say where we got the information from when we delivered your speech so people knew where your information came from.  That is something that I know that I have to work on.  For my persuasive speech I verbally said a source once.  I know I should have done that more often throughout the slides.
I wish I could have done a better job with my persuasive speech while delivering.  I was nervous standing up there waiting for the camera to be set up.  I was going through each slide in my head and I knew what I wanted to say, but when I came to the slide, it just didn’t happen.  This was something that I could have avoided and practiced more.  However, I do think that I had a good rapport with the audience.  Everybody knows that drunk driving is not a thing to take lightly.  I am glad I was able to explain why you should not drink and drive.  I think what really shocked people was the consequence.  When I say back down a few people asked me if those laws were really true.
People always say that you can make your own decisions.  Well I was trying to say that yes, you can make your own decision but I hope that it would be the right decision, not to drink and drive.  A few things that helped me persuade people were the pictures that I put at the end of my slide show of the fatal car accidents.  Another thing that I liked about my speech was the way I ended it.  I asked the audience, how much is someone’s life worth?  It was a simple question but had a lot behind it.
During my speech, I tried to use as a lot of hand motions.  I would move towards the screen and show the audience what I was specifically talking about.  On top of that I also would use hand motions and gestures when I was explained the process when you get charged with a DUI.
I honestly think that my persuasive speech on drinking and driving went pretty smoothly.  I know I had a few errors, but for the most part everything else went according to plan.   I would give myself a 90 for the persuasive speech.  I give myself a 90 because of when I messed up and said “um”.  I know I said that more than a one time.  However I learned form my mistakes and now I know what else I have to do to prepare for another speech.
Even if I wanted to forget the skills I have learned in class this past semester, I would not be able to.  What I have learned in class is very valuable.  You speak to your friends and teachers everyday and soon we will be talking to future employers.  What I plan on keep doing is just speak a little more slowly and clearly.   Also this class helped me writing.  I can now write a paper and be able to include the correct sources and know how to cite them.  Overall this class cannot do anything but benefit you.
